Twelve million people worldwide suffer from autosomal-dominant polycystic kidney disease or ADPKD. Here in the U.S. the number is larger than those affected by Down syndrome, muscular dystrophy, cystic fibrosis and sickle cell anemia combined. Dr. Thomas Weimbs, associate professor and director of the Weimbs Lab at UC Santa Barbara talked with us this morning to discuss a potential drug treatment that he and his team are working on.
