Zombie computers lurking in the dark corners of the Internet form a matrix of data-snatching machines. These botnets are constantly trolling for banks account numbers, passwords and personal data. Dr. Giovanni Vigna, one of the UC Santa Barbara researchers who recently took down one of the largest of these online criminal networks explained just how he and the UCSB Computer Security Group foiled the Torpig Botnet.
